Overview

"Tetrarch ready!"

A pair of Tetrarchs.

The Tetrarch Tank or Light Tank Mk VII, Tetrarch I is a light tank adopted by the British airborne forces. It can be called in once the Royal Commandos Support is chosen. Similar to the Commandos, Tetrarch Tanks are delivered in a Military Glider known by many as the Hamilcar Glider.

The Tetrarch Tank is adopted by the British airborne because of its light weight and diminutive size, allowing it to be carried airborne via Hamilcar Glider for the sole purpose of giving fire support against massed infantry, light and medium vehicles that may be lingering around an enemy fortification. It is a fast, durable, light tank that complements the British commandos as their great counter against medium and light armor.

As most heavy panzers are called to the front-lines to spearhead an assault, they can leave their flanks exposed to attack. With the Hamilcar Glider, it can be deployed in concealed areas and sneak into the enemy base without alerting the opponent of their presence. Fighting along with the Commandos, the Tetrarch Tank can provide armor support, raid supply lines, cut down infantry, destroy defensive positions, and disrupt the enemies' base of operations. If used well, it can catch an opponent off-guard.

Armed with a 2 pounder (40 mm) tank gun and a coaxial 7.92 mm Besa machine gun with armor up to 16 mm thick, it can provide enough firepower and armor to push through enemy lines and eliminate any target that it can come across. It can also be upgraded with the Littlejohn Adapter to increase its main gun's armor penetration. If it needs to create a distraction, it can launch a smoke shell into a designated area, creating a cloud of smoke to make way for commandos to push, or to create a diversion for a hasty retreat.

The two pounder gun provides reasonable firepower against light and medium vehicles such as the SdKfz 251 Half-track, SdKfz 234 Armoured Car, SdKfz.221 Scout Car, and others. It is also effective against buildings, base structures, and infantry.

Tactics

It is a light tank. Even if it is light, it is still a tank, and it is immune to small-arms fire - from rifles to machine guns. It is one of the fastest tanks in the game and it can quickly raid enemy flanks and provide fire support for suppressed infantry. With its smoke shell, it can provide cover for infantry or for itself, or to prevent an enemy force from attacking while they retreat. With enough skill, it can chop down a heavy panzer due to its speed; a panzer's turret traverse is too slow to even fire at it.

Keep in mind however, that it has little armor to even survive a volley of anti-tank shells. It cannot confront a heavy tank on its own, even with a Littlejohn adapter. Two hits on its fronts will most likely destroy it.

Weaknesses

Two Tetrarchs raiding an enemy post.

Although fast, small, and possessing reasonable armor, 16 mm is too light to withstand light anti-tank weapons and anti-tank guns. Most tanks can punch a hole into its front armor easily. Its 2 pounder gun is too small of a caliber to even pose a threat against heavy tanks and panzers. Although it can damage them bit by bit, at that sort of time, it will be destroyed by the opponent's escorting forces. As said earlier, it is mainly used away from the frontlines, and is usually used to escort Commandos to flank an enemy installation, not spearhead an assault.
