The Falaise pocket or battle of the Falaise pocket (German: Kessel von Falaise; 12–21 August 1944) was the decisive engagement of the Battle of Normandy in the Second World War. Allied forces formed a pocket around Falaise, Calvados, in which German Army Group B, consisting of the 7th Army and the Fifth Panzer Army (formerly Panzergruppe West), were encircled by the Western Allies. The battle resulted in the destruction of most of Army Group B west of the Seine, which opened the way to Paris and the Franco-German border.[1]

In the vanilla Company of Heroes, the mission Autry in which Able Company eliminates Joseph Gunter Shultz the Tiger Ace, takes place within the Falaise pocket. The last mission, Chambois, is about an US-Canada-Polish joint action to close the Falaise pocket.
In Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, Falaise Pocket is also the name of mini campaign consisting 3 levels, about a unit of SS Panzer Grenadiers, Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe Ground Force stationed in the town of Trun, trying to defend the town as long as possible to buy time for other German troop's escape from the pocket.
