Defensive Structure are like the word said, a structure in the form of bunker dig in pit design to defense certain position or objectives. They are part of army and play an important role of keeping freindly troops in and keeping enemies out of friendly territory.

Most of them are constructed from combat engineer such as Pioneer Squad, Engineer Squad, Luftwaffe Ground Force and Sappers. But some Infantry such as Riflemen Squad, Volksgrenadier Squad, Infantry Section can also build defensive depend the requirement of the army itself. But unlike combat engineer, most Infantry unit can't build heavy defensive weapons such as the 25 pounder Gun Howitzer, M2A1 105mm Howitzer, 88mm Flak 36 and the 17 pounder AT Gun.

They are a few type of defensive structure that are available in this games

Simple Defensive Structure

Quickly and cheaply erected defenses. Simple Defensive structures include barbed wire, sandbags, and tank traps. all three may be set up free of any cost except the time it takes to build them. Barbed wire and sandbags may be erected by most infantry, but tank traps require combat engineers to build.

The tradeoff for their quick construction and cheap cost is a rapid loss in effectiveness. Barbed wire can be cut or blown apart by any explosive weapon; it can also be run over by any vehicle. Sandbags are tougher, and provide green cover to infantry standing behind them, but may still be run down by vehicles with ease or blown up with explosives. Tank traps, in addition to providing green cover, will also stop vehicles, and are the hardest to destroy. They will not, however, stop infantry, and the heaviest of tanks can plow through them anyway.

Light Defensive Structure

Small, quickly constructed fixed emplacements primarily effective against infantry. All factions have at least one; though the cost, quality, and proper use varies. All light defensive structures specialize in suppressing and eliminating infantry through either enfillade fire or saturation shelling (in the case of the mortar pit). They do some damage to vehicles, but any unit that is resistant or immune to suppression may easily flank and destroy the emplacement, and heavy vehicles and tanks can ignore them entirely. The exception to this is the Panzer Elite faction's defensive structure, which may turn to face in any direction.

Each faction has their own kind of structure. Americans use a .30 caliber machine gun nest, and can garrison additional units inside. Wehrmacht uses a concrete bunker, which can also garrison units, and may be upgraded into either a machine gun nest, a 'medic bunker' that spawns special combat medic units, or a 'repair bunker' that spawns special mechanic units. The British have two emplacements: a .303in Vickers machine gun emplacement and a mortar pit. the Vickers emplacement works much like an American MG nest, while the mortar pit provides indirect fire support, though neither may garrison units. The Panzer elite's light defensive structure is only accessible from the Luftwaffe Tactics command tree, and is a quad 20mm FlaK 30 AA gun.

Heavy Defensive Structure

Heavy artillery such as the M2A1 105mm Howitzer and the 25 pounder Gun Howitzer are the heaviest Allies defensive structure, capable of rained down massive howitzer shell on enemy position. But thier long cooldown time also meant they are vunerble to close combat thus require additional support from other infantry, vehicles and sometimes light defensive structure. Axis however possesed no stationary howitzer, instaed they are access to the powerful anti-aircraft and anti-tank artillery gun-the 88mm Flak 36 which can devaste the enemies armor vehicle.

Explosive Defensive Structure

Although most consider them dirty weapons, but explosive device such as Mines, Teller Mines and Butterfly Bomb provide excellent defence for delaying an advancing force, buying time for building a larger force to counter attack. These weapons also can create a invinsible barrier, restricting the enemies movement. Anti-tank gun, tank cannon and artillery weapons combined wiht the explosive munition can create a massive kill zone that can wipe out anyone or anything that try to charge into it. Explosive munition that can also demoralized the enemies if set up at strategic point and certain location, forcing them to think twice of capturing the strategic point or move into a certain area.
